Jeremy Clarkson accused of spreading ‘bulls***’ as he blames electric cars for ending Grand Tour

Jeremy Clarkson has sparked controversy among electric car enthusiasts for his comments at the latest special event of The Grand Tour.

One for the Road, titled One for the Road, marks the final time Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May work together after a 22-year working relationship.

The trio headed to Zimbabwe for the final tour, with Clarkson behind the wheel of a 1982 Lancia Montecarlo, while Hammond opted for a 1974 3-litre Ford Capri and May decided to drive a 1974 Triumph Stag. .

Of course, the African trip was far from plain sailing, with all three men encountering problems with their cars, from overheating engines to faulty shock absorbers.

However, all three cars ended up being special as Hammond, May and Clarkson crossed the border into Botswana to finish filming on the island of Kubu – the same location as their first Top Gear special 17 years ago.

One of the biggest talking points from this special, however, came during the last few miles of their tour, as Clarkson decided to share with Amazon viewers one of the many reasons she and her co-stars decided to call time on the show. to do

The sound coming from the Lancia’s engine, Clarkson said to a camera hanging from his car: “Still screeching and screeching. Can you hear that? I love that sound.”

After Clarkson mimicked the roar, he continued, “And you’ve grown up with your electric cars today, you never hear that.

“There are many reasons why we do this show, but for me, one of the main reasons is that I’m not interested in electric cars.

“They’re just white goods, they’re washing machines, microwave ovens. You can’t see them and you can’t enjoy them.

“They’re just s**t,” he said in his scathing review of EVs.

Clarkson is no stranger to airing his less-than-positive opinions about electric cars, but it appears the incident has angered several EV enthusiasts, who have accused the Grand Tour host of spreading the bug on a global scale.

On X, formerly of Twitter, one person raged at the former Top Gear star: “As always the old inflatable windbag is wrong. And that’s what we love about him. Like your old grandpa going on about the old days. Bless him. In the meantime, eVs are amazing to drive.

“Faster (much) than classic cars, instant torque, really nice and fun and incredibly reliable. All in all, won’t poison Jeremy’s grandkids. Shame he doesn’t care, but it’s our Giza.”

And automotive journalist and YouTuber Jonny Smith echoed this as he ranted: “B******s. Nonsensical, angry bulls*** who feed off those who think EVs are taking away their right to drive classic cars with Interesting engines are threatened. They are not exceptions.

“One actually feeds the other (as he drives a 70’s Lancia every day). And I’m sure most of those who agree drive a dull 10 year old diesel family car.

“Comments like this should be put in the same basket as ‘women can’t stop’ and ‘being a vegetarian is a bit gay’. You are a legend and an inspiration @JeremyClarkson but let’s not promote rubbish.”

Clarkson has not publicly addressed EV’s backlash, but several of her fans have come to her defense on social media.

“Jeremy Clarkson is right about electric cars,” one fan added just seconds ago: “#TGTOneForTheRoad Jeremy Clarkson about electric cars. “They’re just white goods… You can’t see them. You cannot enjoy them. .They’re just s***.’

“Sure. Thanks, I’ll drive my nice gas car.” (sic)
