BBC headlines more ‘Famous Five’ adventures
The BBC is making a second series of the programme The famous five adventures. The show is a modern adaptation of the Enid Blyton classic. The second series takes the heroes into strange and challenging waters as they face life in wartime – and the perils of growing up. The new series features a guest appearance by Jemima Rooper, who starred as George in the 1990s. Five famous TV series and now takes on the role of Angela Clutterbuck, a guest staying at a mysterious hotel. Winding Refn said: “The excitement I feel for its return The famous five fills my inner child with pure content. It’s an adventure that captures the imagination of my youth and watching these characters, essentially my lifelong friends, continue to blossom and evolve.”
Paramount+ & Network 10 Greenlight ‘Ghosts’ in Australia
Ghost goes to Australia. Paramount+ and Network 10 have picked up the local version of the British hit, which also wowed the US. The eight-part series is set in a dilapidated country house full of new ghosts, as chaotic, unpredictable and messy as Australian history itself. New lovers Kate and Sean jump into the hellscape that is the inner city rental market until Kate inherits a huge country mansion, but unbeknownst to them, the house is haunted by this collection of needy spirits. BBC Studios Australia is producing a version of it. Ghost recently ended on the BBC in the UK, but became a huge hit and spawned a successful CBS version, while another repeat is being made in Germany. With a stellar cast yet to be announced, we can’t wait to bring our own series to life with an Australian twist.”
‘Wonka’ & ‘Supacell’ win UK PGGB Gongs
Wonka and Supacell The Producers Guild of Great Britain (PGGB) Awards took home the big gongs this weekend, while David Heyman was honored with a contribution to the industry award. The Timothee Chalamet-starrer and Netflix UK series won the Production Team of the Year awards for high-quality film and television. The Heyman Contribution Award was given to celebrate the illustrious career that has included Harry Potter franchise, Paddington, Barbeeand winner-of-the-night Wonka. Accepting the award, Heyman said last year had been “a difficult time for the film and television industry in the UK”, but he said the nation had “the best of the best” in terms of talent. The biennial awards were held in Hertfordshire on Saturday. PGGB CEO Lindsay Duthie said: “Our PGGB members are best in class. This wealth of grassroots talent is the backbone of our film and television industry and it is their hard work and skills that create the UK’s first class reputation.”
Officine UBU presents the autumn edition of “Trifall” by Gabriele Fabbro in Italy

UKTV partners and presents content freely
UK free-to-air TV service Freely has entered into a content agreement with UKTV and revealed a content token. The platform, which is the first free-to-air TV service to offer live TV over broadband, has tied up with streamer UKTV U for its latest content deal. Currently, Freely said it now has more content than any streamer in the UK, with around 70,000 hours of on-demand shows. Jonathan Thompson, managing director of Freely Noserver Everyone, said: “The new platform brings together local and original programs that promote British talent and stories. It gives viewers access to the best of British television, delivering shows that reflect our nation, drive the national conversation and extend the shared investment that all listeners have in our community.”
